Richard Avedon's 1981 Vogue portrait of Nastassja Kinski is one of the most iconic shots of the late photographer's career. It became a popular poster in the '80s, and it's been parodied by Miss Piggy and Marge Simpson and recreated by models Andrej Pejic and Ashley Smith.
In Vanity Fair's March 2015 issue, Jennifer Lawrence pays homage.
Patrick Demarchelier shot Lawrence at a private
residence in the Hollywood Hills on July, 2014. While the Colombian red-tailed boa constrictor looks intimidating, the Hunger Games actress didn't flinch once while posing in the n*de—until the very end, that is. According to West Coast editor Krista Smith, the 24-year-old Oscar Award winner "only became uncomfortable when the snake took a fancy to her neck."
The photo was taken weeks before Lawrence became a victim of cyber crime.
In August 2014, photos of Lawrence and many other celebrities were stolen and distributed online. The FBI launched an investigation, and in Vanity Fair 's November cover story, Lawrence addressed the incident for the very first time. She confessed, "I was just so afraid."
"I didn't know how this would affect my career," she said.
"It is not a scandal. It is a s*x crime," Lawrence added. "It is a s*xual violation. It's disgusting."
